Danny Barnes
GRAMMY nominated Danny Barnes is described as “one of kind” and widely acknowledged as “one of the best banjo players in America.” As founding member of Austin's notorious Bad Livers, banjoist/guitarist and singer/songwriter Danny Barnes staked his claim as a traditionalist who didn't mind breaking the rules by irreverently mixing punk, rock, rockabilly, and electronica into the bluegrass formula. In 1999, seeking a change of scenery, Barnes relocated to Seattle, where he has established relationships and worked with an eclectic array of musicians including the jazz guitar virtuoso Bill Frisell, Dave Matthews, Chuck Leavell and more. Playing with Frisell led Barnes to the Wayne Horvitz, who produced Things I Done Wrong, Barnes’ first solo record for Terminus in 2001. Barnes recorded two additional classic records for Terminus with Dirt on the Angel in 2003 and Get Myself Together in 2005.
“This is the way forward for bluegrass.”
