Slang
Slang is the brainchild of Dave Schools and Layng Martine III. Their music stems from decades of friendship and the gradual intertwining of musical sensibilities. Layng Martine III is best-known for his engineering and mixing work with bassist/producer Bill Laswell. Dave Schools is a founding member and bass player for Widespread Panic and a critically acclaimed producer. Slang fuses Schools’ roots in improvisational rock with Martine’s work in musical montage. The two records the duo made, The Bellwether Project (2001) and More Talk about Tonight (2004), are electric and organic, featuring innovative, modern touches and amazing production.
“Music with roots in an old yet somehow new avant-garde tradition.”
